Learning Coach/Teaching Assistant

 JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Handwork Teacher who is passionate about Waldorf education and committed to fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented learning environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a dedication to self-development and excellence in teaching, tailoring the curriculum to meet the evolving needs and skills of our students.

Join us at Friends of Willow Tree and help shape the educational journey of our students through the art of handwork. We look forward to welcoming a dedicated and talented individual to our team.


RESPONSIBILITIES

~ Teach 7 handwork classes per week to students in grades 1st - 8th.

~ Ensure that projects challenge students appropriately, promoting incremental growth and skill development.

~ Emphasize academic excellence, developmentally appropriate practices, and individual student differences in lesson planning.

~ Foster social skills and effective classroom management.

~ Prepare thorough and engaging lessons with an artistic presentation.

~ Write detailed mid and end of the year reports

~ Attend meetings with the administrator, faculty, and parents to support student progress and community engagement.


QUALIFICATIONS

~ Familiarity with and interest in Waldorf education principles.

~ Strong handworking skills (knitting, crochet, embroidery, hand sewings, maching sewing, etc). and a willingness to further develop these through professional development.

~ Excellent teaching and classroom management abilities.

~ Deep understanding of child development and the ability to tailor teaching methods to individual student needs.

~ Strong interpersonal skills to effectively lead and support both students and parents in their educational journey.

~ BA is preferred but not required


COMPENSATION and PERKS

~ Classes are offered s from 1:15 - 3:00 

(2 classes each day)

~ Small class sizes

~ Competitive pay ranging between $35 - $50/hour

~ Paid prep time per class

~ Yearly Professional Development Stipend

~ Child Tuition Remission

Learning Coach/Teaching Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an individual who possesses high expectations, a strong sense of personal accountability, a strong “teacherly” presence, a positive attitude, and excellent communication skills.


We look to our teaching assistants (Learning Coaches) to support our children individually or in small groups and help monitor children when they are outside at recess.


RESPONSIBILITIES

~ Support the lead teacher with small groups, one-on-one support and assessments for students in grades 1st - 8th

~ Emphasize academic excellence, developmentally appropriate practices, and support individual student differences

~ Foster social skills and effective classroom management

~ Attend meetings with the administrator, faculty, and parents to support student progress and community engagement.


QUALIFICATIONS

~ Familiarity with and interest in Waldorf education principles

~ Excellent classroom management abilities.

~ Ability to work one-on-one or with small groups of children

~ Deep understanding of child development and the ability to tailor teaching methods to individual student needs.

~ Strong interpersonal skills to effectively lead and support both students and parents in their educational journey.

~ Bachelor’s Degree

~ CPR certified


COMPENSATION and PERKS

~ Competitive hourly wage ranging from $18-20/hour

~ Students only attend Monday - Thursday

~ Small class sizes for ALL grades

~ Hours are 8am - 1:30pm

~ Paid Time Off and Sick Leave

~ Yearly Professional Development Stipend ($500)

~ Tuition remission

Woodwork Teacher

  JOB DESCRIPTION

~ Develop and implement a woodwork curriculum that begins with carving simple objects and progresses to more complex projects, such as bowls, clocks, and three-legged stools.

Substitute Teacher

 Our substitute teachers fill a vital component of stability that we seek to offer our students. 


Our substitutes fill the roll of our Learning Coaches, Lead Teachers, and Specialty Class Teachers. 


JOB DESCRIPTION

Our substitutes fill the roll of our Learning Coaches, Lead Teachers, and Specialty Class Teachers. 


Our substitutes will engage students in curriculum, as prepared by the lead teachers.
Deliver lessons for various subjects in an engaging, thoughtful manner, combining traditional Waldorf topics with an attentiveness to equity issues in both the curriculum and the classroom
Possess strong classroom management skills
Adapt and differentiate teaching styles to student needs and interests, in collaboration with other teachers and our learning support team

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree

Current TB test results

CPR certified

*Previous Waldorf training and/or an openness to Waldorf pedagogy is preferred but not required*


START DATE
